Student's Assistance Fund Parker students and faculty are fortunate that so much learning is able to take place “by doing.” The opportunities for this often take students outside of the classroom, require more resources and need additional funding. At Parker, families are asked to cover the costs of field trips, sports fees, school supplies and divisional trips.
Parker, recognizing that some families are not able to afford these expenditures and wanting all students to participate, decided to establish Student Assistance Fund. The Parker Essential Fund (PEF) was asked to raise money to support this effort. Since its inception in September 1998, the PEF has provided over $19,000 and dozens of students have been provided opportunities at Parker that they would have missed due to lack of money.
All requests for financial assistance from the Student Assistance Fund are handled through the School Nurse’s Office. Requests and application information are kept confidential and separate from all student records, and are handled in such a way that students, their teachers, and advisors do not need to be involved in the request. The Parker Essential Fund has been an extremely important source of support for my children, allowing them to participate in field trips and sports during a very difficult time for my family, both financially and emotionally. Without the PEF, my children would have had to stay behind during some of the most important experiences that make Parker the special place that it is. Please support this fund, not only for the benefit of the needy students here, but because it is an essence of Parker, allowing the school to provide an atmosphere more like a private institution of learning, rather than a public school, yet without the cost of tuition.
