About the Director

Clare Fox Ringwall, Program Director, is an experienced teacher in the Humanities who has developed and implemented curriculum for 7 - 12 graders and for every level of ability.  She has worked extensively in school districts in Massachusetts and other states and was involved in the design and development of the Francis W. Parker Charter School.  Clare has mentored student teachers in the Masters of Arts and Teaching Program at Brown University, where she also helped teach a methods class.

Clare has worked with teachers, administrators, school districts, and regional networks of schools on curriculum development and curriculum improvement.  As a staff developer with the School Leadership Project that originated at Dartmouth College, she coached school teams to develop the skills needed for collaboration and continuous improvement within school communities.  She has developed a number of curriculum guides in the Arts and Humanities and has worked with school districts on the development of school and district-wide curriculum.  She has been awarded several fellowships from the American Council of Learned Societies to explore research and reform efforts in curriculum development.  She is the author of the booklet Reading as a Thinking Process: Strategies for the Classroom (1993) and is the co-author of "Two Teachers of Letters" which was published in the Harvard Educational Review (1986).
